Primary
School

Empowering students through a broad, engaging, and personalised curriculum.

Curriculum Overview

Students in our primary school benefit from a broad and balanced curriculum enabling them to achieve their full potential and develop essential skills that will serve them well throughout their lives. Our curriculum covers the core subjects of Maths, English, Science and Computing and is further extended to include a wide range of secondary subjects including, History, Geography, Art and Design and Design and Technology.

The combination of breadth and depth of study is at the heart of the School’s philosophy, ensuring that students experience the full breadth of the curriculum in and out of the classroom. Our personalised learning approach tailors our curriculum to suit the individual needs, preferences, and aspirations of our children. Music, PE, Swimming and Languages are taught by specialist subject teachers.

The emphasis in Primary remains on encouraging students to explore beyond the formal curriculum and continue to develop a true love of learning. Such an approach ensures that by the end of our primary school all of our students will be well prepared both academically and socially for the excitement and new challenges of senior school.

Integrating Academic
and SocialLearning
via Classroom
Activities

At FSB we have a Cross-curricular Integration where our social and emotional development principle is woven throughout subjects, creating opportunities to explore feelings, relationships, and self-awareness through academic activities ranging from Mathematics and Science group projects to specific activities such as mindfulness and emotional literacy.

We focus on an activity-based teaching approach to make learning in subjects like mathematics, science, and English both engaging and effective. In mathematics, students use hands-on tools like blocks, counters, and interactive games to explore concepts such as addition, subtraction, and multiplication, helping them visualize and internalize abstract ideas. Science lessons involve experiments and real-world observations, allowing students to investigate phenomena and develop critical thinking skills through inquiry-based activities. For English, we incorporate storytelling, role-playing, and phonics games to enhance language skills, encouraging students to express themselves confidently and creatively.

This interactive, student-centered approach not only fosters a deeper understanding of academic content but also allow us to cultivate social and emotional development in the childhood. Our social and emotional learning is embedded into whole-school school culture, with activities like assemblies, team-building exercises, and anti-bullying initiatives.
